Show your curriculum thinking with confidence
Estyn looks for curriculum that is designed deliberately around the four purposes, with coherent progression and clear evidence of how it all fits together. That is hard to show when your planning lives across spreadsheets, documents and shared drives.
The Rainbow Curriculum Tool keeps it all in one place, so you can evidence your curriculum design and progression whenever you are asked, whether that is for Estyn, your governors, or a new member of staff finding their feet.

Clear expectations at every stage
Set clear expectations from Nursery to Year Six using the progression steps primary schools mainly work across, broadly steps 1 to 3. Progression is treated as a continuum, the way the Curriculum for Wales intends, not a set of rigid year-group targets.
Your team can see how learning builds, year on year, in one coherent view.

Answers when you need them
Turn a What Matters statement into a clear picture of coverage, strengths and gaps across your Descriptions of Learning. Ready to export and print.
The questions that used to take hours of digging now take a few clicks.

Plan for thinking on purpose
Developing thinking is a cross-curricular responsibility, and Estyn looks for it being planned deliberately. The Thinking Tools lens lets you plan and track how thinking develops across your curriculum, not leave it to chance.
Vocabulary, experiences and inquiry have their own lenses too.
Why a rainbow?
A rainbow has distinct bands of colour, but the boundaries are not sharp. One slowly becomes the next. That is how progression works.
Each band maps to a stage: Red for Nursery, through to Pot of Gold for Year Six. If a child in the yellow band can do this, a child in the green band should be able to do that. Progression is built in.
Children in the same class will be working in different bands. That is expected. Over time, teachers stop thinking in year groups and start thinking about where each child actually is.
As standards rise, the bands shift too. Rainbow Curriculum Tool makes all of this visible.
